In my opinion, the best hotel on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland is Oceans Mooloolaba, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean at Mooloolaba Beach.
This hotel is more than just a hotel. It is really an apartment building, run like a hotel. It is about a year old, so very fresh.
Every suite has fantastic views of the Pacific Ocean.
The suites are really 2 bedroom or 3 bedroom apartments. Each can sleep at least four people. In each suite there are two bathrooms, a full kitchen, a living room (which a huge plasma TV), a dining room, laundry area, and balcony.
The hotel has a pool with a view, a theatre, gym and underground car park. There are a huge number of restaurants, cafes and shops in the street in front of the hotel, Mooloolaba Esplanade.
The furniture is really comfortable and modern. The quality of the rooms is extremely high. And a great sound system too. The only thing this hotel doesn't have is room service.
The hotel describes itself as follows:
Oceans is the only 5 star Mooloolaba resort and has a central position directly opposite Mooloolaba Beach in the middle of the Mooloolaba Esplanade strip.
46 exquisite self contained luxury apartments and penthouses feature state of the art facilities, smart technology and modern design details that re-define the words style and quality.
1, 2 & 3 bedroom luxury apartments and penthouses are available, all have stunning ocean views.
The horizon-wide windows dissolve boundaries and connect intimately with the seascape to capture 180º views across Mooloolaba Beach to Point Cartwright and north as far as Noosa.
- Movie Theatrette with projector, leather chairs & ottomans
- Tiled & heated outdoor pool incorporating a 25m lap pool
- Childrens' wading pool with water features
- Sunbathing deck
- Tiled spa and steam room
- Fully equipped, modern gymnasium
- Daily maid service
- Tour desk
- Secure undercover parking
- Drive up to reception
I strongly recommend this hotel. It is not large, only 5 or 6 rooms a floor and only 9 floors. So don't wait to book.

Noosa is one of the premier beach resorts in Australia.
If you are looking for a great place to stay in Noosa Heads in Queensland, I recommend the Sebel Noosa Resort.
The Resort has a great central pool, that everyone seems to love. The rooms have high quality furnishings and are fully air conditioned.
The Resort is not huge, only about 110 rooms, so it is quite personal and not overly busy.
The Resort is located on Hastings Street, in the center of the action at Noosa, but is designed so that it is a private resort with two large courtyards. It does not overlook the ocean, but about 18 suites overlook the Noosa River.
The Resort has one and two bedroom suites. There are no hotel rooms -- each suite is an apartment with a separate bedroom, living area, balcony, kitchen and dining area. Most of the two bedroom suites have two bathrooms.
Interestingly, all rooms are privately owned, by individuals. (It is not a timeshare, but a regular apartment building.) Some are used by the owners only and are not available for guests. Others are managed by the onsite hotel manager -- Sebel, which is owned by the Mirvac Group. Others are rented by real estate agents and accommodation booking offices on Hastings Street.
There are two ways to books rooms at this resort.
You can book via the Sebel Hotel chain. You will not know what room you get until you turn up.
Alternatively, you can book with an off site agent.
The advantage of the off site agent is that you book a particular room.
As this Resort has some bad rooms, with no views and looking at blank walls, you have to be careful.
There are a number of different aspects for each suite
- main pool view
- Hastings Street view
- wading pool and bbq area view
- Noosa River view
- Roof view of neighbour building
- No view
The Resort is three stories. The better rooms are on level 3. Not only do they have better views, they are the higher quality rooms -- larger windows, higher ceilings.
Each room is three numbers. The first number is the building number, the second number is the floor number, the third number is the suite. That is, room 121 is in building 1, floor 2, suite 1. Room 334 is building 3, floor 3, suite 4.
Buildings 1 and 6 are on the Hastings Street side. Buildings 3 and 4 are on the River side. Buildings 2 and 5 are internal only. There are main pool views from some of the suites in buildings 1, 2, 5 and 6.
Some people have commented that the pool view rooms are noisier.
My favorite room is Suite 333. It is on the third floor of building 3 and overlooks the Noosa River, and has views to the mountains. It has large windows in the bedroom, which also has the river view. It is a one bedroom suite, with a small kitchen and large bathroom (with a spa).
You can book this room via Richardson & Wrench. There are some photos here and here.
A very romantic Noosa get away.
Be careful - many places use the name Noosa -- such as Noosa Junction and the like. These places may be a long way from the beach or restaurants. In my opinion, aim for Hastings Street area, which is part of Noosa Heads.
